Awards Day Schedule - May 22

May 15, 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Here are our guidelines for our upcoming Field Day(s). We would like all visitors to pre-register. This will make gaining access to the playground area much easier. A form is being sent home today asking you to pre-register to receive a Visitor Pass WITHOUT coming into the building to register. Please return these no later than Monday, May 20th A pre-registration table will be set up at the corner of the car loop nearest the playground. Should you choose to take your child home after their field day has concluded, you may sign them out at the “pre-registration” table on your way out.
You will be issued a blue Visitor pass to be kept visible at all times while on campus. We ask that you remain outside the fence during the activities. Restrooms at the gym will be open for parents during Field Day.
Those who fail to pre-register must come through the main office and enter their information (or use DL) to receive a yellow Visitor Pass and then proceed to the playground.
* We also ask that you do not bring other siblings to Field Day.
Thank you so much for making this a Great Year at Westwood.

This is a reminder that we will be taking the SCReady test(s) beginning tomorrow with two (2) days of ELA testing followed by Math on the 14th and Science (4th grade only) on the15th with mandatory makeup sessions as needed. During testing, students may not be in possession of any electronic or other device that can be used for communication, recording, timing, creating images, or storing images. These devices include, but are not limited to, cell phones, media players, electronic readers, headphones, smart watches, stop watches, electronic translators, handheld devices, or any electronic imaging or photographic devices. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast, here or at home, and is on time to school these days. Late arrivals will be tested once personnel is available.

Attention Westwood 5th Grade students and parents!!
Due to impending inclement weather and its potentially damaging effects on our equipment, we regret to cancel our performance at the Spring Festival. We will, however, have our 5th graders perform during Awards Day on May 23rd at 9:30 am. All 5th grade parents are invited.

We will conduct our Spring bus evacuations on Wednesday (5-1) at Westwood Elementary, in the morning. This may cause buses to reach their schools a little later than normal. This may also delay car riders at Westwood.
Thank you for your patience.

This is a reminder that we will be taking the state test(s) in the very near future (April 23rd).

Good Morning Westwood Family,
I hope you have enjoyed your Spring Break as much as we have. Today as you prepare to experience the eclipse, please remember the educational packet sent home by your teacher before the break. These are due upon your return. We can’t wait to see all of you tomorrow.

Chicken Salad Chick delivery is running late. They should be at the school for pick up by 11:30.

School Climate Survey is now available online through April 12:
Additional information and directions for completing the survey will be sent home with students.

Reminder:
Dear Westwood Parents and Guardians, We are very excited to offer The Baillie Players' Production of “Oz the Musical” on Thursday, March 14th. Our students will be performing three shows that day, however only two will be open to the public as the performance will last close to an hour and we must begin bus dismissal for some at 2:05. Regulations prevent us from using the same roads for bus and car dismissal. The 1:00 pm show is reserved for students and faculty at Westwood Elementary. If parents wish to purchase a ticket, tickets are being sold for $5 (cash only). Tickets will be available at the door, but there is a strict limit of 250 people per show. The public shows will be at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, doors open 30 minutes prior to the show starting. The gym will be cleared between the performances and a new ticket is required to re-enter. Due to the large number of student performers, we encourage 3rd and 4th grade parents to attend the 5:30 pm showing, and 5th grade parents to attend the 7:30 pm showing. After the 7:30pm show, 5th grade students will be dismissed from the gym with their parents, or to the front bus loop of the school. Third and fourth grade performers will be dismissed from the car rider entrance on the side of the building. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Robinson at brobinson@acsdsc.org. -- Paul Anderson, Principal Westwood Elementary School W.E. means US! 864-366-9604

Please support AHS...Brick by Brick
In conjunction with the new construction, we are launching a fundraising initiative by selling commemorative bricks. These bricks will be laid in front of the school and serve as a lasting impression of your support for AHS! This is a school-wide fundraiser, not specific to Abbeville Athletics.
